Developed as a more environmentally friendly version of traditional gun blackening, blueing and parkerising, this cold oxide blackening kit will provide everything you need to blacken ferrous metals; mild steel fastenings and brackets. Oxide blackening increases the corrosion resistance of treated parts which can be maintained through regular application of our Sealer or through the use of the de watering oil.
Use
Blackening can be done in large batches and is therefore ideal for small parts, but large parts can be put through the same process. Overall, blackening can be easier and simpler than other corrosion protection systems such as paints, chromates and electroplates. When blackening, there is little to no dimensional impact on the parts. The process is a conversion coating meaning that the top layer of is converted from one form of oxide to another.Please note that with the use of the sealer the corrosion and abrasion resistance is far better than the standard chemical blacking systems on the market that only rely on watering oils.

Use sandpaper or scouring cloth to polish off surface oil stains and rust layers
